on the 22nd of March, MACRA commemorated World Consumer Rights Day under the theme: “Trusted Smart Products: Better Digital World”.
World Consumer Rights Day is commemorated annually on the 15th of March.
Speaking at a function to mark the day at Likangala Secondary School in Zomba, the Director General for MACRA Godfrey Itaye, who was also Guest of Honour, urged everyone to be a responsible digital citizen by knowing their rights and responsibilities as consumers of ICT services.
“As consumers of ICT services and goods you have a right to fair trade practices, accurate, timely and correct information, consumer education, freedom of choice and privacy as well as a right to be protected against hazardous goods,” Itaye said.
Among the activities that took place was a panel discussion on growing up digital and being a good digital citizen.
Five secondary schools took part in the panel discussion including Likangala, St. Mary’s, Cobbe Barracks, Mulunguzi and Chirunga.
