The Minister of Information and Communications technology Hon. Mark Botomani MP visited MACRA offices as part of the familiarization tour of his ministry.
The minister met with MACRA’s management team before visiting the various technical directories to get acquitted with MACRA’s core business.
Speaking during his tour Hon. Mark Botomani commended MACRA employees for conducting themselves in an ethical and professional when discharging their duties.
In particular the minister took a keen interest in the Telecentre project and Universal Service Fund, as they are one of the tools in which MACRA will attain its goal of ensuring universal ICT access for all. The telecentre project aims at providing ICT services such as internet services at low prices to the rural areas, while the universal service fund targets the hard to reach areas where ICT services providers are not present. The two project’s main focus is to provide ICT access for all while bridging the digital divide.
in his Remarks, director general for MACRA Godfrey Itaye thanked the minister for the timely visit to the institution.
