The new Minister of Information and Civic Education, Honourable Patricia Kaliati, has decried poor quality of service in the country’s communications sector asking all service providers to put the welfare of consumers at heart.
Honourable Kaliati was speaking when she made her first visit to MACRA since her appointment as the new Minister of Information two weeks ago.
She said apart from the need to improve on key performance indicator areas such as network congestion and dropped calls, players in the telecommunication industry needed to take their services to some of the country’s rural remote areas where services are limited or nonexistent.
Honourable Kaliati also asked the country’s broadcasters to focus on programming that helps in nation building.
As part of her visit, the new Information Minister visited the Consolidated Information and Communications Technology Regulatory Management System (CIRMS) and MACRA’s recently procured spectrum monitoring van.
She also had meetings with members of staff and management.
