MACRA is hosting a week-long Communication Regulators Association for Southern Africa (CRASA) electronic communications and postal committee meetings in Lilongwe.
Speaking at the official opening MACRA’s Director General Mr. Godfrey Itaye said Malawi values the role that CRASA plays in shaping policy that is crucial for the development of the ICT sector in the region.
“As member states, these gatherings are a fulfillment of the committees’ terms of references and a stock taking process for the implementation status of the action items that were agreed upon at the previous CRASA Annual General Meeting.
“To both committees that are meeting, my advice will be to ask you to take your time to carefully discuss the issues on the table to allow the next CRASA AGM have a good platform to make decisions for the region,” Mr. Itaye said.
The meeting has attracted delegates from Namibia, South Africa, Botswana, Zimbabwe, Mozambique, Tanzania, eSwatini, Lesotho and Malawi.
