MACRA, POSTAL & COURIER OPERATORS MAKE A DIFFERENCE ON WORLD POST DAY

World Post Day 2016

Hon. Ndau cuts a tape to symbolise the official handover.

Malawi recently joined the post and courier community around the world in commemorating this year’s World Post Day and celebrated the milestones that have been achieved in the country’s postal sector.

Under the theme: “Serving a new society: Delivering beyond your doorstep”, activities to mark the day were held at Mkwepere Health Centre in Machinga on Thursday 13th October, 2016.

MACRA in partnership with the country’s postal and courier operators contributed financial and material resources towards the connection of power to the health facility located three hours away from the commercial city, Blantyre.

The regulator and its licensed operators also purchased hospital beds, mattresses and oxygen concentrators and gave the rural based health centre a facelift by painting it.

Minister of ICT, Hon. Malison Ndau, presided over the official handover of the new look health centre and medical equipment.

He hailed the cordial working relationship that exists between the regulator and its licensed operators that has resulted in what he called positive contribution to the lives of rural people.
