On Friday June 17th, MACRA members of staff commemorated at organisational level the International AIDS Candlelight Memorial at MACRA House in Blantyre.

Under the theme “ENGAGE, EDUCATE, EMPOWER’’, Deputy Director General, Mr. Francis Bisika, led members of staff in lighting a candle in memory of friends, colleagues and family members who died of AIDS.

Mr. Bisika said despite the loss encountered as a result of HIV/AIDS, MACRA has great hope in its HIV/AIDS workplace policy that is aimed at supporting members of staff and their families in fighting the disease.

He called upon members of staff to  make use of this policy which offers a special package to those who declare their sero status to help them on nutrition supplements.

“It is enlightening to see that the MACRA Family is made up of young people with a number of years ahead of them. The future of the organization and of course the country is dependent on the choices you make today. Let’s make safe health choices that will preserve our future and those of children,” he said.

The event included poetry and music from guest artist, Tiwonge Nkhonjera.
