Malawi Communications Regulatory Authority is a regulator for the ICT industry and issues licences to telecommunications, broadcasting, postal and courier operators and all users of spectrum in Malawi. ICT as an industry is very dynamic and the Authority has realized that a well documented and an up to date strategic plan is an important tool in responding to the ever changing needs of the operating environment. MACRA need to reassess its position in the environment if it is to provide effective regulation of ICT industry. There is also a need to re-evaluate its competitive advantage in terms of the strength and its weakness. Recent changes in the industry have brought in many challenges as well as opportunities which were not envisaged when the original plan was being developed in 2010. It is against this background that MACRA intends to hire a consultant to develop a Strategic Plan for a five (5) year period from 2014 to 2019. This exercise is expected to align the strategic plan to realities on the ground considering that much has changed politically, economically and socially since the development of the current strategic plan in 2010.
