INTRODUCTION

The Communications Act, No 41 of 1998, empowers the Malawi Communications Regulatory Authority to licence and regulate postal services in Malawi.

The directorate is charged with the following responsibilities;

Issuance of licences to all operators,
Regulation of tariffs for basic services,
Enforcement of regulations to ensure compliance with licence conditions creation of order in the postal market.
Identify appropriate technologies, systems and methods for widening the access to postal services in rural and disadvantaged areas;
Promote competition among postal service providers;
Implementation of National Postal Policy
