Our mission is to be ICT regulator that promotes the development of the ICT sector through investment, monitoring, research and training to professionally deliver reliable and affordable communication services throughout Malawi
MACRA believes that to begin to achieve the status of the world class regulator, the following values and guiding principles ought to be followed and promoted:

The Act confers upon MACRA the mandate to supervise and regulate the provision of communication goods, services and product, to promote efficiency and competition among service providers, and to ensure that the benefits of this economy accrue to the citizens of Malawi and its economy.
The function-based establishment led by Director General mans MACRA through the following directorates:
Finance and Administration
The Director General is assisted by Directors who head the directorates. The Director General is answerable to the MACRA BOARD appointed by the President.
FUNCTIONS AND AUTHORITY
MACRA is mandated to supervise and promote the provision of communication goods and services through out Malawi and to:
Make regulations and policies that govern the communications sector;
Issue licences to providers of communications services;
monitor enforce compliance with rules, regulations and policies;
hear and decide on disputes and complaints brought by industry or members of the general public;
plan, control and manage the frequency spectrum efficiently in order to maximize frequency availability and
protect the interests of consumers, purchasers and other users of communication services from unfair business practices, poor quality services and harmful or inferior products.
